Helium, a gift from Helios, is turned into balloon
Good morning everyone. Today, Hi would like to introduce you to Helios, a God of Ancient Greek mythology. You may wonder that why Helios is related to a balloon. We have an answer for you.
According to the ancient Greek mythology, Helios, son of Uranus and Gaia, had been ducked into the water by his brother. He escaped from water and rushed to the sky and become the Sun. He is personification as a God of Sun. Later on, his name has been using by scientists as the name of helium gas.
For all balloon shops, helium plays an important role because we inflate all the balloons with helium.
Helium is a rare natural gas and it has a higher price than other gas. It plays an important role in medicine and science as well. Many scientific instruments such as MRI Scanner, spectrograph telescope, radiator detector are depending on helium.
In other industry, helium has been adding in diver oxygen tanks for a deep-diving to maintain the proportion of oxygen. Helium may be used with neon gas in the light tube of barcode scanner in the supermarket. The most common way of using helium is to inflate a balloon.
Helium is much lighter than air, no color, no odor, no taste, lowest boiling and melting point of all substances. Helium is an inert gas which is non-flammable, non-explosive and no leakage. All balloon shops should be responsible to their societies by using helium to inflate their balloons instead of hydrogen even though its price is 3 times higher than hydrogen. Helium is safe to use with balloons and ensure safety to all clients.
More than that, helium is non-toxic and no biological effect which means that it is not harmful to human if we have contacted or inhaled it.
Many people may say that hydrogen can inflate the balloons as well. Are you ready to take a risk? Hydrogen is flammable and easily inflammable. Balloons inflated with hydrogen must be kept far from heat, light tubes and do not use to decorate outdoor. Do not tie hydrogen balloons into a bunch because they may scratch each other and explode. This may cause serious injury or death. Only one exploded balloon by your ear can cause you deaf.
